I am an interpreter and translator for German, English, Spanish and Austrian Sign Language.​

My interest in languages and cultures began when I lived abroad for the first time: Working as an Au Pair in the United States, I lived with an American family and took care of their children for one year. In 1996, I registered at the University of Vienna and began my studies at the Department of Translation and Interpretation (now: Center for Translation Studies) with the languages German, English and Spanish. A semester abroad in Barcelona gave me the opportunity to also immerse in the Spanish language and culture. After graduation I joined "Universitas", the Austrian Interpreters' and Translators' Association.​

Since 2002, I have been working part-time as a translator for a patent attorney's office in Vienna and part-time as a freelance translator and interpreter. At the same time I attended seminars for future sign language interpreters and took the professional accreditation examination with the Austrian Association of Sign Language Interpreters and Translators ÖGSDV.

With the variation of my professional activities I have been able to get insight into different fields and gain experience with diverse text types. My work as a translator at the patent attorney's office is mainly focused on chemical, biochemical and technical texts as well as correspondence relating to patent law. Freelancing as a translator, I have worked on websites, magazine articles, business reports, catalogues, reports, art descriptions, advertising brochures and plenty more. Interpreting assignments have taken me to varied situations, from congresses to community interpreting.
